It Is so interesting inspired to read this. It reminds me of the author Crescent Dragonwagon whose blog Is called " Nothing is wasted on the writer "

Thank you :) I will check out C.D. - for me, it is a great pleasure to let the brain run wherever it wants, every now and then 😊

What is it, indeed, about nights that makes them so special? I find particular inspiration in nights and dawns. I loved that you included "good," "bad," and neutral feelings because we really need to leave the tortured artist trope behind. It's true that sadness can be a source of inspiration but striving to be miserable just to be a good writer is just madness.

Yes, I agree. Misery is not a goal to have. But it can be good to consider that it is not a barrier either - it is just different. People can do something even if their knee hurts, or their soul. And if they can't just now, it is because they need rest more. And the rest will itself improve so many things in their lives that it will show in their creativity in the longer run.

Indeed. There's a time and a purpose for everything and running away from the "bad" feelings won't help either. I just feel like some writers actually strive to be miserable and lonely just because we have some examples of extremely distressed artists who were also excellent at their craft.

Could it be that people are seeking a story to tell about themselves? I mean, who will read a writer who can tell only ordinairy things about themselves, like: "I went to a typical school, was a normal pupil, then I had a normal education, nothing special, nobody rewarded me for anything - I got a boring job, and then I started writing something after work that I think everybody has already experienced; nothing special for me to add as I have no unusual experience to share".

It could even be that some writers invent a story of misery just to sound more interesting? Or that life simply is miserable to many, so it doesn't even need to be invented? I don't know - just thinking aloud ;)

LOL. I kind of want to read that book. Most of us lead pretty non-spectacular lives. And there's some beauty in it, isn't it? I
